How our Social Media Agency grew to 10k on TikTok
As a Social Media Agency in Melbourne, it’s super important to us that we practice what we preach. That’s why a few months ago, we started getting (a little) more serious about growing our TikTok account. Who are we to call ourselves Melbourne’s best social media agency if we can’t even grow our own social media accounts?
Well this week, we celebrated hitting 10k followers and thought we would share a few pointers that got us there so you can do the same for your business or organisation.
Use trending sounds
One of the easiest and laziest ways to post content on TikTok is to use trending audios as they blow up. The best way to find these audios is to stay active on the platform and make a note when you see something new.
It’s so easy to create content to a trending audio. Usually they are just a few seconds long, so you can repurpose existing video or quickly film something that suits. Definitely try to add your own spin to the trend, making it relevant to your industry and audience. And try to react quickly so the trend isn’t over by the time you post.
For example, as we are a social media agency, we post fun, quirky content about work life, including jokes about our jobs and what we do all day. It’s important to be able to poke fun at yourself and not take these trends too seriously.
Share easily digestible tips
One of our most successful content formats has been in sharing quick, easy to understand digital marketing and social media tips. As a social media agency, this makes complete sense as this expertise is what we want to be known for. But you can share tips and advice in any industry. Just try to focus on your audience and what they struggle with. If you can get people commenting and saving, you’re on the right track!
These tips should only be 15 seconds or so long. Don’t overthink it. Just hit record and share some valuable content that your audience will love!
Tie it back to your objectives
There’s no point in posting a bunch of popular, yet irrelevant content. This is a problem that a lot of TikTok accounts share. They manage to grow their audience and gain some success but they can’t monetise their success. You need to add in enough content that is actually relevant to your business and your objectives or your time on TikTok will be wasted from a strategic point of view.
For example, we’ve tried to regularly post behind the scenes content from our content creation shoots, plus case studies of our social media clients. Not to mention, day in the life of a social media manager! This kind of content hasn’t been our top performing content views wise, but it’s so important to our overall strategic objective of promoting our social media agency and finding new clients. If we just posted funny trending audios all day, we wouldn’t be making it clear exactly who we are and what services we offer.
We hope these insights inspire you to refresh your TikTok strategy! If you’re looking for a social media agency in Australia to manage your TikTok or other social media accounts, please do get in touch and we can have a chat about your objectives!
